Ambassador Fries

We are sorry to announce that Ambassador Fries will not open for the Victoria Day Long Weekend as has been tradition for over 15 years. This has been a very difficult decision for us. To help our customers understand, we describe some of the reasons for this action.

Food costs have escalated. The use of high priced condiment packets is a condition of opening. Our prices must rise to a level we are not comfortable with - especially at a time of reduced income for many.

We are experiencing difficulty hiring staff. Necessary and much appreciated government assistance has, for some, taken away the incentive to work. Others have a legitimate fear of serving the public.

Physical distancing regulations limit staff to one person in the chip stand at any given time. Not being able to step in and help during peak hours will cause extended wait times and inconvenience to our customers.

Outdoor seating at our picnic tables and lawn chairs is prohibited. We will miss the friendly atmosphere and the comradery our chip stand is known for.

Delivery services are not an option as commissions are too high for a small business like Ambassador Fries to absorb. To offer touchless payment directly at the stand (as opposed to the motel office) is yet another added expense.

The health and safety of our customers is always top priority. We are formulating a plan to, perhaps, open in July. We can all work together today to ‘flatten the curve’. Stay-at-home directives and travel restrictions are beginning to relax. Maybe outdoor dining, with safe and prudent physical distancing, will soon be allowed. Ultimately it is the pandemic, and our collective response, that will determine all of our futures. If 2020 is not in the cards, we will be satisfying the craving for our Fabulous Fries in May 2021!

We are sending our heartfelt thanks to our many loyal customers. We greatly appreciate all of the inquires we have received through messages and phone calls. Updates will be posted as the summer progresses. In the meantime, everyone, please stay healthy and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Robin and Laila
